Maya Sank is the Founder of Maya Moves, a full service, personalized dance company offering group and private lessons for students of all ages. Classes include private training sessions for young dancers, couples classes to prepare for the first dance at the wedding, teaching the latest TikTok trends to middle schoolers, and more, all with the mission of bringing joy and confidence to every dancer.

Maya was placed in her first dance class at age 7, and has been dancing ever since. She earned her BFA in Dance Performance & Choreography from Elon University, and spent time training with the Israel-based dance company Vertigo. Maya started Maya Moves as a weekly beginner dance class to help her fellow childhood dancers reconnect with their movement roots, and has since expanded the company to help people of all ages remember how fun it can be to be on the dance floor.

When it comes to wedding dances….

Maya Moves was created for the couples who don't want to look like they've taken months of classes, but also don't want to just sway in place the entire time. Maya's approach is about building confidence and encouraging you to relax and have a great time- it's your wedding day!

The goal is to make people wonder if you had assistance or not, based off how natural you look.

Maya's method only requires meeting for 1 lesson together- yes that's correct, just one hour! It's geared towards non-dancers who don't want to spend too much time or money on mastering a few tricks.

The 1 hour lesson starts by reviewing details about your wedding, go over tips & things you may not think about prior to being in the spotlight.

Then, you will learn how to stand comfortably together & 3-4 signature moves (typically a dip, and other moves that fit the vibe of your song). The rest of the hour is spent plugging those moves into the lyrics of your song, keeping the length of the dance (1:30-2 mins. max).

Instead of learning how to count, you'll learn how to communicate with each other in-between the moves, so that you're not being distracted by too much choreography.

Each lesson includes music assistance, a recording of you doing the dance, and notes to help you remember the order of the moves with clear instructions of what to tell your Band or DJ.

Maya Moves offers private wedding lessons and occasional group classes, both in NYC and over Zoom.

In addition to the first dance, she also assists with Parent dances with the same approach of only learning a few moves & keeping the dance under 2 minutes.
