Slow or fast song? Does it make a difference?

I get asked this question almost every phone call I have with a couple.

Slower isn’t necessarily easier.

Even if you’re the most inexperienced and embarrassed dancer, moving slowly may be harder than you think.

You want to be comfortable and enjoy the song. If it’s sappy and not fitting to your personality, it will show.

My goal is to hide the fact that you may not have rhythm, so if it’s fast I won’t have you move faster. Instead, we focus on learning how to stretch a few moves out to match your song.

If you don’t picture yourselves needing a sappy moment on the dance floor, or your love songs are more upbeat, my job is to make what you love work!

Maya is amazing to work with! My husband and I did not want a full choreographed dance, but we wanted to not look like we were swaying on the dance floor for two minutes. Maya came to our apartment, had the dance ready to go, where the music needed to be cut, and was so patient. We continued to practice after our one lesson, and the dance came out perfectly. It was so fun, and we got some really great pictures. I told multiple friends who were engaged to hire Maya, and they did, and had great first dances as well!
